Features

Built for beauty.
Designed for PvP.

Every effect in Distance is crafted to feel satisfying, not just pretty. This is what 1.8.9 combat was supposed to look like.

Targeter

A precision targeting reticle that renders directly on hovered players. Real-time, smooth, and unmissable. Know exactly what you're locked onto.

Item Shaders

Held items glow, shimmer, and come alive with dynamic shaders. Your sword has never looked this menacing. Or beautiful. Kinda both.

Player Shaders

Full-model shader rendering applied directly to player models. Every opponent lights up with gorgeous visual effects as combat unfolds.

Sky Shaders

The sky itself becomes a canvas. Animated, shader-powered skies that shift and breathe. Even waiting in spawn looks cinematic now.

Jump Circles

Satisfying animated rings expand beneath your feet every time you jump. Small detail, massive feel difference. Movement becomes expressive.

+ A Lot More

Distance is a living mod. More effects, more systems, more reasons to keep your crosshair moving. We ship when it's ready, not when it's safe.

Scripting API

Not just visuals.
Anything.

The Distance Scripting API opens the door to anything — not just cosmetic effects. Utility tools, automation, custom gameplay overlays. If you can write it, Distance can run it. Easy as f***.

// FPS display — render2d hook Distance.on("render2d", function () { var fps = Distance.getFPS(); var color = fps < 30 ? 0xFF5555 : fps < 60 ? 0xFFFF55 : 0x55FF55; Distance.drawTextShadow( "FPS: " + fps, Distance.getScreenWidth() - 75, 15, color ); });
Why Distance

No PR team.
No gray area.

There's already a PvP visuals mod for newer versions. It's fine. But it's also very... careful. Distance isn't careful. Distance ships what the community actually wants.

Others (e.g. Soup Visuals)

Image Over Community

Soup Visuals exists for newer versions but will never be backported to 1.8.9. It operates in a PR-safe bubble — no gray area features, nothing edgy, nothing that could be controversial. Who cares if a module is banned on a server? Just don't use it. (or do) The community asks, and the answer is usually no.

Distance

Community Over Image

Distance doesn't have a PR department. It has bhoppings, a dev who actually plays 1.8.9 PvP and builds what the scene wants. No public image to protect. No corporate caution. If the community wants something and it's possible, it ships. That's it. That's the whole philosophy.

The Bottom Line

Built for 1.8.9. Built for real.

1.8.9 PvP isn't going anywhere. It's arguably the most active version for competitive Minecraft and has been for over a decade. Distance is the first mod to take that seriously from a visual design perspective — not ported, not watered down, built from the ground up for this version and this community.
